Doubts Surround the Career of 22-Year-Old at Tottenham

Tottenham seems to be preparing for a few players to leave the club in the upcoming weeks.

It seems inevitable that Joe Rodon, Hugo Lloris, and Ivan Perisic will leave Spurs soon. Additionally, some peripheral players may also be heading out this summer.

Players like Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon have uncertain career paths ahead. As per Dan Kilpatrick’s observation on The Tottenham Way Podcast, Djed Spence’s future is equally uncertain.

Spence entered Spurs with a £15m deal from Middlesbrough just a year ago. However, his lack of significant impact at the first-team level means the 22-year-old may soon be moving yet again.

Spence may be Transferred

Kilpatrick offers his viewpoint on Spence.

He states, “A few players’ futures are uncertain. Lo Celso has performed well in the pre-season but he could fetch a good price, and if a tempting offer comes through, Spurs might consider selling him. The future of Djed Spence is also uncertain, considering the team already has Porro and Emerson as right-backs and he didn’t play much on the tour,” said Kilpatrick.

Unfortunately for Djed Spence, Tottenham just doesn’t have room for him anymore.

At his best as a wing-back in a back-five arrangement – he was a great fit for Antonio Conte, but he doesn’t quite fit with Ange Postecoglou’s preference for a back-four system.

Spence joined last summer, but already finds himself potentially out of favor at Spurs.

Despite his age, it’s too early to write him off entirely. If he wants to make a mark in the Premier League, however, that may require making a move away from Tottenham.

Do not be surprised if Spence does exit Spurs this summer.
