Tottenham supporters are still uncertain about the future of their leading forward. The English player is in the last year of his agreement, and Bayern Munich is keen to secure his services.

If Kane departs, Tottenham will require a successor, and according to GiveMeSport, Jones suggests that Toney would embrace that opportunity.

Ivan Toney has been outstanding in the Premier League ever since Brentford got promoted.

The 27-year-old is an ‘extraordinary’ forward. Not many players in the world have his control with his back to the goal, and he is great at finding the net as well.

Toney would have been a popular name in this transfer window, but unfortunately, in May, he received an eight-month suspension from football for breaking betting regulations according to The Guardian.

Even though his return to football will not happen in the near future, once he is back next year, Tottenham could attempt to sign him, as reported by Football Transfers.

Jones has expressed the view that he believes Toney would love to take Kane’s place at Spurs.

He stated, “Long-term, it’s understandable why Toney might appeal. He’s been on Chelsea’s shortlist for some time, and he probably wants a bigger challenge, for which Spurs might be a perfect fit.

“Sure, his suspension makes him less exciting as a signing. But he’s an athlete who’s recently pushed his name into the England contention and consistently hit the back of the net, ignoring doubters who questioned his ability to keep up the performance.

“In this regard, he’s similar to Kane in his initial years. Maybe the idea of being Kane’s successor would intrigue him when the time comes.”

It’s still unclear how Toney will perform when he returns to the game next year, but considering his form over the past couple of years, signing him would be a logical move.

At 27, Toney is a phenomenal striker. His ability to retain the ball and link play is among the best in the country right now, and he could be a key asset for Tottenham.

However, Toney only becomes a viable option for Spurs next year if Harry Kane leaves the club. This is a strong possibility, but the main focus now should be to retain him.

Whether they can do that or not is yet to be seen.
