Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, is planning to sell Sergio Reguilon this transfer window, citing a lack of faith in the player.
Reguilon, a Spanish full-back, was bought by Tottenham from Real Madrid for £32 million in the summer of 2020 (as reported by Sky Sports). Despite having made 67 appearances for the team over two seasons, former coach Antonio Conte decided last year that he was not in his plans.
The previous season saw Reguilon on loan at Atletico Madrid, but now reports from El Confidencial point towards Tottenham’s plan to sell him.

Tottenham’s expectations for Reguilon to excel during his tenure with Atletico Madrid last season were not met, both on and off the field.
His association with rival team Real Madrid did not sit well with Atletico fans, added to that, recurring injuries kept him off the field for a significant part of the season. His games were consequently limited to only 12 appearances for the year.
The club has reportedly advised Reguilon to search for a new team this summer following the new Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou expressing his lack of trust in the player.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that Atletico’s coach, Diego Simeone, is likewise uninterested in bringing him back. Reguilon, now 26, still has two years remaining on his contract with Tottenham.

Reguilon’s arrival at Tottenham three years ago brought forth a wave of excitement among fans.
Though he started well, his defensive weaknesses overpowered his attacking abilities resulting in a loss of his slots in the lineup. Antonio Conte, last year, was resolute in the decision not to include him in the squad, prompting a loan move.
Now, as reported, the lack of confidence in the Spaniard extends to the new coach Postecoglou, which leaves the decision to Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman, to arrange for a definite transfer for Reguilon in the upcoming weeks.
