Tottenham’s Player Ready to Excel Under Postecoglou, Absent from West Ham Match

Eric Dier, a defender from Tottenham Hotspur, is fervently looking to prove his worth to new coach Ange Postecoglou during the pre-season.

The information was shared by Paul Gilmour, a Sky Sports journalist discussing on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel.

It is a significant period for Tottenham’s players as they gear up for the forthcoming season.

Besides maintaining optimal physical fitness, they also have to familiarise themselves with a new playing strategy.

Ange Postecoglou’s coaching style appears to be quite different from his predecessor Antonio Conte’s approach.

In spite of a 3-2 defeat to West Ham in Perth, Tottenham showed promise with plenty of opportunities created through their high-energy, possession-based play.

On offence, the team performed well. However, there were still some improvements needed on the defensive side.

Amongst the Tottenham defenders, Eric Dier is particularly eager to demonstrate his skills to Postecoglou this summer.

Footballer valued at £4m, Dier was one of the frequent starters for Conte in the previous season.

Nonetheless, the shift from a three-man to a four-man defence may pose a challenge for the English international to secure his place in the team.

Dier Eager to make his mark under Postecoglou

Gilmour commented about the 29-year-old defense player that Angel Postecoglou is currently evaluating players in the tour. This presents an opportunity to impress the new coach.

“We are well aware that Eric Dier is determined to stand out. He desires to continue and he believes that he will perform better in this season, having recovered from his groin injury.

“Sometimes it’s easy to overlook that players are also human beings and injuries do impact their performance, which Dier believes in his case.”

“He is optimistic for a successful season with the management change and given the pressure Tottenham had to endure last season.”

“This high pressure fell on defensive players, so if the team plans to be more aggressive offensively, it might help those defenders by easing the pressure, especially if Tottenham can apply this style of play promptly and effectively.”

Dier’s desire to impress Postecoglou might be driven by the rumours of Tottenham showing interest in several new centre-backs in the transfer market.

Footballers such as Micky Van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba might join the team, and young player Ashley Phillips is also likely to be included.

Dier didn’t play during Tottenham’s friendly match against West Ham due to fitness training.

He is optimistic about participating soon, and prove to Postecoglou that he is equipped to play within his new strategy.
