Recent news hints that Tottenham Hotspur are close to deciding if they should sign Edmond Tapsoba or not.
The news shared by Alasdair Gold from FootballLondon asserts that Tottenham is weighing up a potential move for Micky van de Ven or considering offering a contract to Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.
The club is reportedly keen on revamping their defensive line, but only plan on drafting in one of the two centre-backs. They’re now contemplating a possible transfer of Tapsoba to bolster their defence.
Fabrizio Romano, a senior sports journalist, mentioned in his Here We Go Podcast that the price tag on this defender could hover around £50 million.

Tottenham’s Crucial Decision on Tapsoba’s Transfer
This decision holds significant importance for Tottenham. There’s an undeniable need to augment their defensive forces. Even though Daniel Levy is known for his reservations about spending large lump sums on players, a major expenditure in this context seems crucial.
In the previous Premier League season, Tottenham’s defence was the sixth-worst in terms of goals conceded. This underperformance was a key factor behind their unsuccessful bid to qualify for Europe.
Surprisingly, the club has appointed Ange Postecoglou as the new manager, hinting at a renewed focus on more dynamic and expressive football. Their commitment to this new coach is evident in signing a new goalkeeper along with James Maddison.

At 24, Tapsoba is already proving to be a competent centre back in the top flight of German football, the Bundesliga.
Recruiting him seems to be an obvious step forward. Not only will he be able to improve the defence, but he’s also a player who is likely to be with the club for many years. If he can prove his worth in the fiercely competitive Premier League, his valuation could easily exceed £50 million.
