Tottenham Hotspur have been continuously making efforts to finalise a deal with Micky van de Ven, and it appears that this isn’t deterring them from also negotiating with another top-rated defender.
To ensure that they do not land in the eight position and consequently lose the chance to qualify for Europe again, Tottenham needs to secure some superior signings.
Interestingly, despite the reports indicating that they are on the brink of signing Van de Ven, Fabrizio Romano reports that they are simultaneously working on clinching a deal with another defender, Edmond Tapsoba, with whom they have been linked heavily.
The Italian reporter provided this exciting piece of news for the Spurs supporters today as he stated: “Spurs are also endeavouring to strike a deal with Tapsoba.”
Tottenham making advancements towards Tapsoba in addition to Van de Ven
Tottenham undoubtedly needs to significantly upgrade their defence, as the previous few seasons have been marked with several errors and weak defensive play.
Tapsoba is a top-notch defender. It’s clear why the North London side is interested in securing the Bundesliga star in addition to Van de Ven.
At the age of 24, Tapsoba, being an already competent centre-back, would be a worthy acquisition for the club. His solid performance in the Premier League suggests a seamless adjustment to the league wouldn’t be surprising.
Moreover, considering his young age, he certainly has the capacity to further develop and attain the world-class skill level that Spurs believe he possesses.
If attendance by both Van de Ven and Tapsoba in their back line could materialise, it would make a massive difference to Spurs’ performance in the forthcoming season.
New coach Ange Postecoglou is definitely being provided with substantial resources to bring about a major enhancement in the team. Thus, it is expected that he will be under substantial pressure to excel in the ensuing season and fulfil the goals set by the club.
