It’s important to note that Ivan Toney is currently serving a suspension, which will continue until January. Despite this, Tottenham is willing to wait until the new year to pursue the Brentford player.

Jamie Carragher Praises Tottenham’s Potential Signing, Ivan Toney

Prominent football analyst Jamie Carragher seems supportive of Toney’s potential move to Tottenham. As reported by the Daily Mail, Carragher expressed his admiration for the 27-year-old following his exceptional performance for Brentford against Brighton in October, where he scored two goals.

“Ivan Toney was an absolute sensation,” Carragher stated, as quoted by the Daily Mail. “He’s not just an average striker, he’s an accomplished performer. I can see this from his recent performance. He has the potential. That’s why he’s in the England team right now and if he continues to perform like this, he could be on his way to Qatar.”

Of course, Toney won’t be able to immediately fill in the void at Spurs if Kane is sold this summer, as he won’t be able to play in the first half of the season.

This could be a concern for Tottenham supporters if Toney is indeed their top preference.

Yet, this interest in Toney might hint at Spurs’ intention to disregard any potential offer for Kane. After all, acquiring Toney, given his promising performance, would undoubtedly come with a hefty price tag, regardless of his current suspension.

There is a possibility that Spurs could still sell Kane and count on Richarlison and Son Heung-min till January. However, waiting for Toney to be available could be a risky strategy.

Tottenham may see Toney’s suspension as an opportunity to negotiate a more favourable transfer fee. If Toney can get back to his top form after his suspension ends, he may prove to be an excellent addition to Spurs’ roster.
