Spurs Decide Against Meeting Club’s Offer for 28-Year-Old Even After Considerable Contract Agreement

Tottenham Hotspur have chosen not to equal Al-Nassr’s offer for Clement Lenglet, despite previously settling on personal contract terms with the French player during this year’s summer period.

Sport’s report informed that Al-Nassr is prepared to pay £12.9 million to transfer the 28-year-old to Saudi Arabia during this transfer period.

Likely transfer of Clement Lenglet from Barcelona is anticipated in this window. Barcelona had no objections allowing the centre-back to go on loan support at Tottenham last season.

Spurs resistant to match Al-Nassr’s Lenglet bid

So far, Spurs have abstained from signing Lenglet on a permanent basis. Despite that, it is believed negotiations have taken place. Sport reports that Tottenham proposed a three-year contract to the defender, termed as substantial.

Nevertheless, Al-Nassr’s readiness to shell out €15 million for Lenglet has thrown a wrench into the plans. Lenglet’s preference would be to join Tottenham rather than relocating to the Kingdom.

Yet, Tottenham is unwilling to meet Al-Nassr’s bid. A negotiation with Barcelona might be necessary for the defender to make a comeback to North London this summer.

It will largely hinge on other players Tottenham are planning to bring in this transfer window. It is critically essential for Ange Postecoglou’s defensive team to be enhanced before the deadline.

They might have an improved plan in place. If that happens, they’ll feel no need to remain in the competition for signing Lenglet.
