Player Vitor Roque Signs £47m Deal with Barcelona, Tottenham’s Reported Pursuit Thwarted by Fabrizio Romano

Vitor Roque has been recently linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

According to recent news from Mundo Deportivo, discussions between Tottenham and Roque’s Brazilian representatives had reportedly taken place.

The same source also suggested that Tottenham was prepared to take extreme measures to derail Roque’s expected move to Barcelona.

According to reports, Tottenham was ready to triple Roque’s pay packet in an attempt to secure the deal, even considering travelling to Brazil for negotiations.

Tottenham is currently undergoing a team overhaul under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison have already joined Spurs, with Dejan Kulusevski signing a permanent deal with the club.

The speculation surrounding Roque and Tottenham arose following reports that Athletico PR was growing increasingly frustrated with Barcelona.

It was reported that Athletico PR was awaiting necessary documentation from the La Liga giants to finalise the transfer.

‘If this doesn’t happen, other options may begin to be considered,’ the MD article further added.

Reportedly, Tottenham was constantly pursuing the transfer, along with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite these efforts, as it now appears, Tottenham’s last-ditch attempt to secure Roque’s services has been unsuccessful.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on Twitter that Roque will be moving to Barcelona, effectively ending any speculation.

Barcelona appears to have responded to Athletico’s ultimatum, and Roque’s signing is imminently expected.
