Following a West Ham United showdown, Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga has praised the performance of the club’s young goalkeeper Brandon Austin.
Spurs unfortunately suffered a 3-2 loss to their London contenders in Perth yesterday, with both Austin and Tanganga playing in separate halves of the game.
After completing a rare senior-level performance for Tottenham, Austin made a post on Instagram.
The 24-year-old Austin, a product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, is yet to make his competitive debut for the team.
He has gained experience from loan periods with Viborg, a Danish club, and Orlando City in Major League Soccer.
This might be the break Austin has been waiting for at Tottenham this season.
The club’s long-term goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is set to leave after over ten years based in North London.
In his absence, Fraser Forster stepped in admirably last season, although he’s failing to be included in this pre-season tour due to injury.
Like Japhet Tanganga, it’s crucial for Austin to capitalise on any chance to impress new Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.
Despite conceding to Gianluca Scamacca who scored the winning goal, Austin’s performance yesterday was promising.
Tanganga Acknowledges Austin’s Performance
Austin showed humility in thanking supporters after yesterday’s match on Instagram, posting: “Thanks for all the support out in [Australia].”
Japhet Tanganga commended his 24-year-old teammate by leaving an encouraging comment under the post.
Similarly, the Spurs defender, Tanganga, faces an important decision this summer regarding his career.
In yesterday’s match against West Ham, he was drafted alongside Cristian Romero as part of a stronger side for the first half.
Given his recent position low on the priority list and with the team considering other options in the transfer market, he has to ponder his future at Spurs.
Potential new players like Ashley Phillips, Micky Van de Ven, and Edmond Tapsoba are rumoured to be joining the North London club.
