Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has provided an update on Bayern Munich’s efforts to sign Harry Kane.
David Ornstein, a journalist for The Athletic, revealed today that the German team made a bid for the English striker.
Ornstein stated on Twitter: “Today, Bayern Munich submitted an official proposal to Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Harry Kane.
“The written offer from FC Bayern worth €70m [£60m] + add-ons was made for the 29-year-old forward. England’s captain has one year remaining on his current Spurs contract.”
However, several journalists have already reported that Tottenham rejected Bayern’s offer.
As Kane’s contract nears its end, it is not surprising that top European clubs show interest in him.
Manchester United are also rumored to be interested, but Tottenham selling to a Premier League competitor seems even less likely.

Bridge Gives an Update on Bayern and Kane
When questioned about Bayern Munich’s reported bid, Bridge commented: “First of all, reports from Germany and our colleagues there have informed us that Bayern Munich submitted an offer for Harry Kane.
“It seems the information comes from Bayern Munich’s side.
“As far as I know, Tottenham has not received an official bid, but if one were made, it would be quickly rejected.
“What we do know for certain is that Bayern Munich is extremely interested in bringing Harry Kane to Germany.”
The £60m bid from Bayern appears too low for Tottenham to consider, especially knowing how tough negotiator Daniel Levy can be.
German journalist Florian Plettenberg thinks Kane has expressed his desire to join Bayern.

A variety of factors could influence Kane’s decision about his future during this summer.
He is nearing the Premier League’s all-time scoring record and has already broken all of Tottenham’s records.
However, the absence of European football next season and his teammates’ declining performances last season (despite his efforts that led to an 8th place finish) could be worrisome.
Tottenham supporters are relieved to learn from Bridge that Bayern has not yet made a bid for Kane.
However, it seems likely that the pressure on Spurs to make a decision will increase in the near future.
